Finding Home Care

Home Care Agencies, Assisted Living and Nursing Homes Watchdog Agencies

Homecare is a general term that represents a wide range of community-based services to support someone that is recuperating from an acute situation, such as a hip fracture, or services needed by persons with on-going chronic conditions, such as stroke or cerebral palsy. The skills and duties of home care personnel vary, but all have one thing in commonÑthey make it possible for care recipients to remain at home in a safe, environment and in some cases have more independence than they did before. In the process, they also provide family caregivers with a chance to replenish their depleted physical and emotional reserves.

Most people with chronic or disabling conditions live in the community, on their own or with family.. For those who live in the community and their family caregivers, knowing agencies that can help provide help at home is important. If you think your loved one will need to move to an assisted living facility or a nursing home, youÕll need information on how to do that as well.
